“We were lucky enough to have Kimberly come to work at our school for 2 weeks with students ranging from reception age up to Key Stage 3 to introduce the musical styles from the Caribbean and deliver workshops on the steel pans, jumbie jams, and rhythm. Kimberly is extremely engaging, informative and passionate about her subject and this gave the students a wonderful insight into this style- not only in terms of experiencing and enjoying the music itself, but also in terms of the cultural context and geographical and historical overview.
In addition to being an excellent practitioner in the classroom and holding all classes enthrall during their sessions, Kimberly is also incredible in terms of how hard she worked in preparation before this project- going far ‘above and beyond’ what we would have expected in order to help our school with the logistics of delivering this project in an international setting. Kimberly’s work with staff and students has truly left a lasting legacy at Kellett school, which will be re-visited year upon year. Thank you so much Kimberly!!” Sarah McLellan, Music Curriculum Leader Kellett School – The British International School in Hong Kong Pok Fu Lam Prep Campus |

"Kimberly was a wonderfully inspirational visitor to Kellett. I teach a Year 4 class here and they absolutely adored their session learning how to play the Jumbie Jams and they all felt a huge amount of achievement after a short 45 minute session. She was very positive and enthusiastic with them and had a great presence in the class. They started the week off brilliantly by introducing the instruments and the style of music in a very vibrant and interactive assembly, which the children thoroughly enjoyed. And to finish, I have to say a personal thank you to Kimberly for teaching us staff a song one morning this week. It really was great fun and made us all feel as though we were relaxing on a Caribbean island! Thank you so much!"

"It was a real pleasure to work with Kimberly during her residency at Kellett School. She was enthusiastic, knowledgeable and engaging and the Senior students gained a lot from her expertise. It was a great way to launch our steel band, and to introduce the students to playing steel pans and the techniques required. As teachers, we also learnt a lot about playing the steel pans, how to arrange for steel pans and the background to the music which is going to be extremely helpful in planning our future unit of work and our school steel band."
